Christian sympathy and prayers for:

The family and friends of Florence McMillian, mother of Rev. Ric 
McMillian (Resurrection, Spring) was welcomed into heaven on September 
19 after a massive stroke.  Her funeral was held on Friday, September 23 
at Resurrection Lutheran, Spring.

The family and friends of Mrs. Lavonna Appel, widow of Rev. Vernon Appel 
and grandmother of Rev. Tim Appel (Grace, Smithville) who was welcomed 
into heaven on September 22. Her Funeral was held on Monday.

Mrs. Nancy Kimmel,  wife of Rev. Mike Kimmel (Good Shepherd, Mt. 
Pleasant and St. John, Clarksville) in Memorial Herman at the Texas 
Medical Center in Houston dealing with major health issues and in need 
of our prayers.

Recovery for the many fire victim families.

Texas Partners in Mission Sunday...Did you know that over 90 men and 
women serve in missionary roles in the Texas District? And, did you know 
that the Gospel hope of Jesus Christ is shared with people in over 35 
different languages & dialects? God is opening some incredible "mission 
doors" that are beyond our own comprehension, truly miracles of God! 
October 23 is the designated Sunday for Texas Partners in Mission. 
Please celebrate this ministry with your members on October 23 or a date

GB2012
The GLORYbound 2012 Planning Team has been hard at work over the last 
year to make GB2012 a fantastic youth event for the LC-MS Texas 
District. We are happy to announce that registration is open online at 
www.gloryboundtexas.org and paper registration forms have been mailed to 
each congregation. The early bird registration deadline is December 15, 
2012, so make sure you are getting the word out to your students!

Area Fire Disaster Relief
The Texas District, along with LSS of the South and LCMS World Relief 
and Human Care continue to stand ready to assist financially.  These 
organizations work primarily through the pastors of those congregations 
affected.

Board & Committee Nominations Open
All pastors of the Texas District should have received an email on 
September 21, 2011 inviting them to log into the Nomination Webpage in 
order to submit nominations to the District Board of Directors, Board of 
Mission Administration, Concordia Texas Board of Regents, the 2015 
District Nominating Committee, District Secretary and the Committee for 
Synod Convention Nominations. Pastors who have not received the email 
invitation are asked to Contact Gwen Hohle (convention at txdistlcms.org).

Pastors of congregations were also requested to set up a nomination 
account for their congregation's president by providing his name and 
email address. Contact Gwen Hohle  (convention at txdistlcms.org) if you 
have not received your account username and password.
