OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE AND SYMPATHY TO...

Family and friends of Dorothy Nast, mother-in-law of John Hawkins, 
Director of Planned Giving, LFOT, who was called home to be with her 
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 4 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 
after a long Illness. She was 87. Her funeral was in Troy, Michigan on 
Wednesday, April 9.

Ann, wife of Rev. Walt Dube, (Pilgrim, Houston) after receiving 
treatments for cancer.

Rev. Mark Seaman (pastor of Our Savior Lutheran in Corpus Christi) and 
his wife, Isabela, deployed to Iraq. He will serve as an artillery 
specialist, training the Iraqi army, for a period between 90 days and a 
year.

Rain in Big Spring. Everything is tinder and we had another big fire at 
our refinery this morning. Thank heaven no one was hurt.

National LCMS Worship Conference
“Sing to the Lord a New Song”

The LCMS Commission on Worship invites pastors, musicians, and any 
others interested in the church’s worship to attend the 2008 Institute 
on Liturgy, Preaching, and Church Music. This third national worship 
conference will be held on the campus of Concordia University Nebraska 
in Seward on July 22–25, 2008

Additional special features of the conference include:
• A national High School Honor Choir will offer a unique opportunity for 
Lutheran high school students to perform with noted musicians. For more

• A Select Children’s Choir, students grades 5–8, will enjoy a week of 
musical activities and contribute to the conference worship. For more

• Registration fee set at $225 with reduced rates for additional 
registrants from the same congregation and for students. The child 
registration fee is only $50 for a week of fun activities. Early-bird 
registration deadline is June 2, 2008.

The Professional Church Workers Conference is scheduled for October 
19-21, 2008 at Gloria Dei, Houston. One of the major presenters will be 
Jim Henderson, one of the authors of the book: "Jim and Casper Go to 
Church." In addition there will be numerous sectionals to pick from. For 
that we would like your input. Please go to the following website and

2008 Advent – Christmas Preaching Workshop - October 27-28.
Hosted by Circuit 36 & Houston Area Chili Conference. The guest 
presenter, Dr. Tim Saleska, Concordia, St Louis will take us through the 
appointed Old Testament pericopes for Advent. The cost is $45 which 
includes break refreshments and lunch.
