Please keep the district office up to date on conditions in your 
churches, schools and preschools and your people,   You can contact the 
Pacific Southwest District Office at 949-854-3232  or 888-773-5267.  
 
The District has a Fire Fund for our churches and members. At this time, 
specific needs are being assessed.  Until staff and members are able to 
return to their property, financial assistance would be appreciated.  
You can send a check directly to the Pacific Southwest District office 
and indicate that it is for the Fire Fund. Thank you for your concern 
and compassion.
 
We have received so many phone calls from people outside the Pacific 
Southwest District area.  Please share this information with others who 
may not receive the PSD eNEWS. According to the information we have 
received from KNX1070 Radio, this is what was being reported on the 
fires raging in Southern California.

Santa Ana winds are starting to weaken.
 
There are 16 separate fires currently being fought.
 
411 Thousand Acres, plus has been burned.  
Over 600 square miles burned or burning.
 
There have been 45 reported fire related injuries, and 5 dead, all in 
San Diego County.
 
Over half a million people have been evacuated.
 
25 post offices have been closed down, 1 burned down.  Mail delivery has 
been suspended to over 478 thousand homes and businesses.
 
San Bernardino County:  Lake Arrowhead and surrounding communities have 
been evacuated,  425 homes destroyed and another 10 thousand threatened. 
One hospital has been evacuated.
 
Orange County:  Mandatory Evacuations in Effect for Santiago, Modjeska, 
Silverado and Williams Canyons.  Fourteen buildings have been damaged 
for destroyed.  Between 800 and 900 homes in the Modjeska, Silverado and 
Williams canyons were deemed to be threatened by the fire, which spread 
across 19,200 acres, said Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief 
Kris Concepcion. The blaze was 30 percent contained.  Arson is to blame 
for these fires.
 
San Diego County:  The Witch Fire has consumed nearly 200 thousand 
acres; 500 homes and 100 commercial buildings have been destroyed.
 
It is estimated that there is at least 100 million dollars damage, and 
federal emergency help is being mobilized.
