Sign Language Interpreted Services

Do you know of any LC-MS interpreted services for the Deaf in the
Texas District? Deaf people will occasionally tell me they are traveling
to visit family or friends, and I'd like to be able to refer them to a
church where they could worship. Please send an e-mail to
JesusDeafLutheran at AustinTexas.com if you know of any
interpreted services.

Thank you.
Mark Seeger, Jesus Lutheran Church of the Deaf.

Lutheran chaplains, pastoral counselors to gather in San Antonio

Lutheran chaplains, pastoral counselors, and others who work in
specialized ministry settings will continue a 40-year tradition when
they gather Feb. 8-11, 2007, in San Antonio, Texas.

Zion XIII, the 13th triennial conference hosted by the
Inter-Lutheran Coordinating Committee (ILCC) for Ministries in
Chaplaincy, Pastoral Counseling, and Clinical Pastoral Education,
offers an opportunity for personal reflection and renewal for
professionals who serve others.

Keynote speakers are Dr. Diane Jacobson, professor of
Old Testament at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., and
Dr. Arthur Just, exegetical professor of New Testament at
Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. They
will address the conference theme, “Power and Passion for
Pastoral Ministry: Biblical Metaphors and Lutheran Traditions.”

A conference highlight will be the presentation of the
Christus in Mundo awards that recognize four individuals
for major contributions to ministries in chaplaincy, pastoral
counseling, and clinical pastoral education.

The Zion tradition began in 1967 in Zion, Ill., to highlight the
importance of ministries in specialized settings. The
conference is made possible by grants from Thrivent Financial
for Lutherans and the ILCC.
