IN OUR PRAYERS . . .

PASTOR JONATHAN MEYER AND MEMBERS OF OUR SHEPHERD, CROSBY - with 8-12 inches
of rain in the northeast Harris County area on Memorial Day, Our Shepherd
had high water in the sanctuary. Pastor Meyer and others from the church
managed to get most of the pews elevated as well as other office furnishings
up onto desks and tables. Various electronics (copier, etc.) were also
elevated.

Members have pulled baseboards off in the sanctuary and some other rooms to
allow more air circulation in the walls. The carpets seem to be drying well
and the moldy smell is dissipating. As Pastor Meyer reports, they are
keeping the electric company very happy, running all 5 AC units full blast,
along with multiple fans, dehumidifiers and vacuum cleaners. They believe
that mold may be their biggest problem. Two members had water in their homes
on Monday. While there was more rain in the days following the heavy rains
on Monday, no further flooding was reported. For which, all are thankful.

CONGRATULATIONS TO . . .

MARK (Principal, St. John, Lincoln) and LEANN (Teacher, Immanuel, Giddings)
McCLAIN - who are grandparents again! MARK ALAN REITZ (named after Grandpa
McClain) was born Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Baltimore, Maryland, and is the
son of their daughter, Christina, and her husband, Steve Reitz. He is also
welcomed to the family by his big sister, Stephanie.

A MESSAGE FROM LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE SOUTH

Congregations can make difference for foster children

With the incidence of child abuse continuing to rise, more loving, Christian
foster families are needed to care for the growing number of children in
Texas who need safe homes.

Local congregations can help make a difference in the lives of more than
2,800 foster children served by LSS by sharing information on fostering with
its members. If a congregation is interested in having someone from
Lutheran Social Services' award-winning foster care and adoption program
come speak, or if a church is willing to host information and training
sessions, please call (866) 700-0014.

For more information, visit www.LSSS.org and click on Children.
