Rev. Oscar Benavides - New Urban Mission Developer for LINC North Texas

LINC DFW has a new name and a new director. The new name is LINC North
Texas. The new Director is Rev. Oscar Benavides. Oscar announced his
acceptance of the call on August, 26th and will begin his ministry with LINC
on September 18th. Installation will be in October with date and location
to be announced soon. LINC is also pursuing its 501-C3 status and is
applying to be an RSO (Recognized Service Organization) of the LCMS.

Oscar O. Benavides was born in northern Mexico and came to Texas when he was
five. After a turbulent junior high experience a new friend in high school
invited him to a Christian "Youth Group". It was there Oscar heard for the
first time that Jesus died on the cross and began to trust Him as his
personal Savior, began reading the Bible daily, and changing his life
drastically.

Oscar graduated from Texas Bible College with a Bachelors Degree in Biblical
Studies with a minor in Youth Ministry and was accepted into the masters
program at Dallas Theological Seminary.

In October of 1994 Oscar and his wife Jennifer were called by Prince of
Peace in Carrollton Texas to minister to the students. During his 10 years
as Minister of youth, the high school ministry grew to its present size of
175 teens and started a junior high ministry with a present size of 85
teens.

In 2004 Oscar was ordained as a pastor in the LCMS. He then served as
Pastor of Missions and the Emerging Church at Prince of Peace. During his 13
years at Prince of Peace he led many mission trips and was involved in
planting mission churches overseas including one in Kisimu, Kenya. For the
past 2 years, Oscar has served as Pastor of Children and Family Ministry at
Prince of Peace. Oscar and his wife Jennifer are proud parents of daughter,
Bailey.

Sunday, September 23, 2007, 7:30 pm will mark the seventh Lutheran Hymn
Festival in Dallas since 1993. The hymn festival with the theme "Holy, God,
We Praise Your Name," will be held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony
Center, one of the world's great concert halls. This festival presents a
unique experience for singing great hymns from the tradition of the Lutheran
Church and Christendom in general.

Glorify God and to encourage one another in the faith by singing hymns. The
Scriptures bid us to do so: "...sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs
among yourselves, singing and making melody to the lord in your hearts,
giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 5:19 - 20 NRSV). And again, "Let the
word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all
wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual
songs to God. And whatever you do, in word and deed, do everything in the
name of our Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him"
(Colossians 3:16-17 NRSV).

Proclaim the Gospel to the Metroplex community and encourage and support the
training of young musicians. Residual funds from the festival have been
designated for "Lutheran Summer Music Academy". Lutheran Hymn Festival 2007
will feature a mass choir from Lutheran Churches in the Dallas/Fort Worth
Metroplex, under the direction of Sam Eatherton, Minister of Music at Zion
Lutheran Church in Dallas. The Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas will
also participate in their second Lutheran Hymn Festival under the direction
of Cynthia Nott.

Mr. Robert Hobby, a nationally recognized composer, conductor, church
organist and clinician will serve as guest organist for the festival. He
will play The Herman W. and Amelia H. Lay Family Concert Organ which is the
focal point of the Eugene McDermontt Concert Hall at the Morton H. Meyerson
Symphony Center. The organ and the Meyerson Symphony Center are acoustical
and architectural benchmarks and are a proud legacy to generations of music
lovers in the Dallas area.

RESOURCES: Bulletin inserts, publicity materials and a poster may be
downloaded from www.lutheranhymnfestival.org . You can also listen to

songs from the 2004 Lutheran Hymn Festival.

The Facilitator Letter Merges With Weekly E-Letter

The Facilitator Letter has been published quarterly since 1995. We made a
decision this summer to discontinue publication for several reasons. With
the continuing growth of electronic publishing, we can accomplish getting
the same kind of information, news and resource sharing without the cost of
paper, printing and postage. So, in the future this publication will become
a weekly one with information which we hope will be useful, practical and
timely.

Austin City Church 1st Anniversary - "How Beautiful Are the Feet - Shoes for
the Homeless Service Event"

New Mission Starts continually seek ways to connect with their communities.
Here is a creative and loving way that Austin city Church is reaching out to
its neighborhood and the homeless of Austin on their first anniversary.

To all my Friends @ Austin City Church from Pastor Jim Mueller

"I am so thankful for all the people we have met over the past year here at
ACC, and since my family moved to Austin. The enthusiasm you share for
mission is magnetic and inspiring. We recently received a huge gift of
shoes from a great group of ladies at San Marcos, TX. Our leaders have met
and have decided to use that gift as our emphasis for our 1st Anniversary
Celebration here at Austin City Church. And most importantly you are
invited to join us!

We will have a special flyering and prayer party here at ACC on Sept. 6th at
6pm so we can invite our neighbors in 78704. Our goal is to get out 1,000
direct invitations that night and to have everyone in ACC to invite friends
and family to join us. Come for that event and then join us on Sept. 9th
for the celebration. Here's the info below...forward it on to anyone you'd
like to invite.

Where: Austin City Church

When: Sunday, Sept. 9th

Time: 5:30pm

Address: 1700 S. Lamar #338, Austin, TX 78704

Map: <http://www.austincitychurch.com/> www.AustinCityChurch.com

What to Bring: Pair of shoes for the shoe altar

Who will be invited: The neighborhoods around 78704

Special on tap: A keg of the 1st Anniversary Summer Ale brewed by our staff

We will be displaying artistic altars of shoes brought by people from the
neighborhoods that will be given to the homeless in Austin. Our goal is to
warm the feet of those living on the street this Fall and Winter. This
special worship event will center around our partnership with people from
around central Texas who care about the people of Austin as a response to
the grace of God. You, your friends and family, and the neighborhoods
around us are invited!"

Sermon Theme: "How Beautiful are the Feet of Those Who Bring Good news"

God's Peace to you all,

Rev. Jim Mueller
