Esperanza, Hispanic Congregation Dallas - (cut and paste for bulletin or

Your Texas District Hispanic Missionary at Large in Dallas is Rev. Hiram
Orea. Pastor Orea leads two congregations: Centro Christiano Hispano,
meeting at Zion, Dallas - with 45 -50 in Sunday worship and Nueva Esperanza,
meeting at LINC's New Hope site on Peavy Road with 80 in Sunday Worship. In
Pastor Orea's own words here are two exciting reports:
Christmas at Nueva Esperanza
"The Dallas Hispanic Ministry celebrated its Christmas Party with a Posada.
Incorporating the Latino Culture into the celebration of the birth of our
Lord Jesus Christ - it's a great way to reach out. One of every three
families of the neighborhood attended and had the opportunity to hear the
Gospel.
Thanks to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Plano, we were able to give
Christmas gifts to all of our families. We all rejoiced and thank God for
His kindness to us."
Sunday School on Thursday Nights
"God has been doing wonderful things through the ESL program held at Nueva
Esperanza on Thursday nights. About 50 students come and bring their
children to the English Classes, and while the adults are learning English,
the children enjoy Thursday night Sunday School taught by Mrs. Blanca Orea.
The kids love the classes and because of the, lots of families have started
attending our Sunday morning worship. This has been a great way to reach
out to Hispanic families in need of a better life and eager to learn English
to find better work opportunities."

Front-Line Story: DFW Congregations and Youth Leaders host Middle School
Gathering for 520 Jr. High Students
>From Ben Scheck, Director of Youth Ministry at Crown of Life, Colleyville:
"On February 2-3 more than 520 junior high youth and adults from twenty-two
DFW area churches gathered together for the North Texas Lutheran Student
Ministry event extravaganza known as Raw Fuel. Raw Fuel is an overnight
lock-in built for and around sixth through eighth graders in order to
promote spiritual growth, Christian fellowship and fun.
This year’s host, Light of the World Lutheran Church in Keller, Texas, was
the site for the first leg of the annual event and provided an amazing
opportunity to worship the Lord through songs and words of praise and let
get a little silly. A Napoleon Dynamite impersonator kept everyone on their
toes as he mingled with each church group and even performed his infamous
dance. The Light of the World praise band led the youth in powerful worship
through song. Area icon and youth guru, Doug Widger, fueled from a recent
trip to India, shared a compelling message with the youth as the Spirit
spoke through him inspiring words of encouragement and hope in serving the
Lord. The band Nevertheless took the energy from there and used it to unite
the group with a concert many young teens will not soon forget.
The enormous group then traveled to The Keller Pointe, a local recreation
center, where individuals were able to take advantage of many activities
including: basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball tournaments in the two
full-sized gyms, swimming, floating, sliding and hot-tubbing in the pool,
working their way through a prayer labyrinth, eating some of the 175 pizzas
from Ci Ci’s , sleeping or relaxing while movies played, playing on one of
the three frigid inflatables set up outside on one of the coldest nights of
the year, or just enjoying one another’s company and conversation in the
lobby area.
Raw Fuel gave an opportunity for youth to encounter others who share their
faith for the Lord and their excitement for living. The numerous parents,
young adults, and volunteers who offered their help made this event safe,
positive, and engaging for the youth."

GLORYbound 2008 - Pulse
WHAT?
The GLORYbound 2008 team has been hard at work. The theme for the 2008
GLORYbound in Ft. Worth is PULSE. Our theme verse is Ezekiel 36:26 “I will
give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you
your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
WHY?
In this youth subculture, our students find themselves in a daily
struggle for self definition, particularly pertaining to who they are in
Christ and who He is to them. At GLORYbound 2008 we will help students have
a living, breathing, bleeding understanding of their identity in Christ. We
will pray and watch as God transforms hearts and minds from stone to flesh,
from flat-lines to pulse, so that teenagers are revived and equipped to live
for Christ. We’ll worship a Christ so real and so close to these students
that they can hear and feel His PULSE!
